Kaizen for Energy Efficiency and Carbon Reduction

A Forward Vision Kaizen event of three to five days is a means of effecting a step-change performance improvement in a specific area- a particular line, machine or process area, a warehouse, laboratory or workshop. Using a project team to define the current condition of the subject area and then develop and expedite improvements, it is possible to demonstrate what is achievable in a fairly short timeframe.

The team analyse and eliminate wasteful energy practices using Kaizen tools and techniques and waste elimination exercises to achieve and standardise rapid improvement.

Kaizen events create important windows of opportunity to consider ways to eliminate energy waste:

• Understand how energy is used in a particular process;
• Brainstorm opportunities to reduce energy use in that process;
• Reduce process wastes such as idle time, inventory and defects;
• Implement those ideas in a short timeframe
