Using Lean Disciplines and VSM to Identify Energy Wastage Plant-wide

Five or ten-day events focussed on a specific area of the business to train and motivate its selected project team and provide an exemplary model of what can be achieved with simple and effective principles and techniques:

  • Equips participants with a levelled up understanding of lean disciplines and especially of operational and business process waste, its immediate and underlying causes and how it can be reduced or eliminated;
  • Provides a live demonstration of the power of kaizen - not a staged event or discussion group - which will demonstrate how to make real-time improvement, on the spot, to a specific operations area or production process;
  • Demonstrates the practical application of Lean / kaizen techniques: using analysis, creativity, experimentation and testing to make better use of existing resources in order to generate improvements to some aspect of quality, cost and delivery. Typically generates productivity improvements in the order of 20-45&perc;
  • Demonstrates how kaizen / Lean tools and disciplines can be adopted to sustain and build on the gains generated, and gain invaluable insights as to how it can be applied in every part of the process.
  • Enables participants to understand how to react to ever-changing and more demanding customer expectations, sharpening the business's competitive edge.
  • Demonstrates true empowerment in action, as people are given the understanding and opportunity to make a difference, for themselves, in their own working environment.

Ideal participants:

  • Directors and Managers who want to understand more about Lean disciplines and techniques;
  • Shift Managers, supervisors and or Team Leaders who need to gain greater understanding of improvement methods in order to carry out one of the key aspects of their job;
  • Engineers, planners, buyers, QA / technical support professionals who need to support operations improvement as well as apply the same tools and techniques to scrutinising and improving their own value-adding chains, and to adopt new ways of thinking and working;
  • Members of the production / operations team in the project area;
  • Anybody of any discipline or seniority who needs confidence to take more direct action for themselves.
